5 Tips to Make Moving Easier
Posted December 4th, 2019 by Johnny MHere are five helpful tips you can use to ease your transition from one home to another.
1. Prepare to handle with care
One key tip is to keep your packaging for fragile and expensive items, so that you have a perfect way to transport them later. No fussing with packing paper or taping up boxes — just pop your product back into its fitted compartment. When it comes time to package up your SimpliSafe, don’t worry: We can supply you with brand new product boxes for free!
2. Make your most useful belongings accessible
The last thing you want after moving into a new place is to have to dig through a jumble of belongings to find the stuff you need right away, such as clothes or cookware. So when packing, make sure you tuck away your home essentials somewhere easily accessible. A folding table that you can pop up to eat on or use a computer is awesome to have at your disposal — disassembled TV wall unit, not so much.
3. What goes up must come down
When planning your move, don’t forget about the art and accessories adorning your walls! When taking down pictures or hooks hung up with poster putty or tape, be sure to pull them off slowly. And when you're putting them back up in your new place, inexpensive, versatile command strips are your friend. If you need some to set up your SimpliSafe sensors, we will send you some 3M Command Adhesive strips at no cost.
4. Check in with your insurance agent
Before you start moving, call up your insurance agent and ask about how to insure your valuables for transport. You may want to verify or change your plan, particularly if you will be working with a moving company. This is also a good time to help your agent change your address, and to discuss the best insurance plan for your new home.
5. Update your address info
You don’t want important documents to end up in the wrong place, so update your billing and mailing address for any and all services — including SimpliSafe! Having your new address saved in a document to copy and paste over makes it easy. And of course, put home services on hold during the moving process.
